Card Making

I am off to Stamp-Camp soon, I thought I should practice making a few cards first. There is a judged competition and each delegate makes a card to a certain theme and using a specified technique. This year the theme is butterflies and "stamping with bleach".

This is not a technique that I find particularly appealing, it is smelly and does not work in a lot of my papers. I did discover that besides Sugar Paper, it works well on hand made papers, especially the ones with a solid color.

I went to one of my favourite sites for instruction and inspiration.

as usual they did not let me down, I made a Twirly card, it came out rather well, I need to do a little tweaking still but I think I will submit something similar for the "camp"

12 Days of Christmas

I am in a challenge to make ATCs (12) for a swap partner. It is taking me a really l-o-n-g time. I have been working on them for about 2 months. They are all cut and drawn and half have been painted. I really need to knuckle down and get them finished. I am sending them to Australia so they will have to go fairly soon, otherwise they will only get there in time for Xmas 2011. LOL all I want to do is slump on the couch and play silly X-Box games.

Skyla and I made Chocolate muffins today. One of the packet mixes. We put all the ingredients together and they were just like glue. I really didn't think they would turn out as well as they did. She left me with strict instructions NOT to eat them all, she expects to fine some when she comes here tomorrow. So I am just quietly drooling...they are really good. It was our own little long distance Happy Birthday party for Sascha. We won't see him again for a couple of weeks and it was his birthday yesterday. He got a bubble making machine and is driving Nadja's cat crazy. Why do cats not like bubbles?

Owie!! Owie!! Owie!!

My housemate Cobus moved out on Friday (sob, sob). He has gazillions of books and shoes (LOL). We loaded up a bakkie and a trailer. Then the "real" work began. My domestic Maria and I moved furniture around, I wanted to move into Cobus' room and make my room into a playroom. What a mission. I finally got most of what wanted to do finished last night. I had plenty of help from my granddaughter, Skyla. She pushed and pulled, and lifted and carried and didn't moan at me once. What a STAR.

I can now park the car in the garage and there is some space to move around in there as well.

I really have to have a B-I-G cleanout. I am a terrible horder of stuff-I-may-need-someday. I could probably get rid of a lot of the boxes I have stashed in the garage. (but not today, I will have to psych myself up first)

The cats were also very "helpful" they raced up and down the passage, trying their best to either trip me up, or get themselves crushed by the furniture we were moving. They yowled around looking for their favorite spot- which had now moved.

Nadja and Sascha spent the afternoonwith Skyla and I, the kids watched DVDs and played games and Nadja and I had a lovely afternoon looking at pretty, shiny beads. We even made a necklace, which was the original plan.

Owie!Owie!! Owie!! I am stiff and sore all over. I even have aches and pains in places I didn't realize I had.
